The kitset CNC pattern can be cut from six sheets of plywood. The keelson can also be CNC cut from ply or plotted for construction in cedar.

EASY TO BUILD AT HOME

The J14 kitset emerged in 2011 after the class responded to demand for a quick and easy way for new owners and professional boatbuilders to create new hulls.

The lines were taken off the original Spencer plans and then referenced against two hulls - one was the glassfibre boat from the mold and the other was an accurately built wooden hull.

The hull was modeled from the original lines plan and offsets alongside the measurements taken from the reference boats in Maxsurf.

The new lines were then transferred to a set of construction drawings and a nested CNC kitset. At the same time a sets of construction plans and CNC kitset for a jig to build the hull on were also created.
